WHO ARE ELIGIBLE?

You will receive official level Diploma qualifications in the care of the elderly and disabled with this certificate. Eligible candidates include those with a degree, training, compassion, and a desire to work in the aging and disability care sectors. In order to satisfy the demands of our aging population, individual support workers are becoming increasingly important. According to the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work in order to be qualified.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

This certification has no specific admission requirements. Candidates for the qualification must, however, be at least eighteen years old, possess at least twelve years of formal education, or the equivalent, and speak English fluently.

PACKAGING RULES

The students enrolled in Diploma of Community Services (Case Management), units of competency as listed below:

Total number of units = 16

  • 8 core units
  • 8 elective units, consisting of:

      at least 6 units from the electives listed below

  • up to 2 units from the electives listed below, any endorsed Training Packages or accredited courses – these units must be relevant to the work outcome
  • Any combination of electives that satisfies the aforementioned requirements may be chosen to earn the Diploma in Community Services. Electives may be combined in certain situations to offer a qualification with a specialization.

Packaging for each specialisation:

 

  • at least 4 Group A electives must be selected for award of the Diploma of Community Services (Case Management)
  • at least 3 Group B electives must be selected for award of the Diploma of Community Services (Social Housing)
  • all Group C electives must be selected for award of the Diploma of Community Services (Statutory & forensic child, youth & family welfare)

All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
